Weaving Classes
I teach weaving on a Knitters Loom. These are so much fun to play with and you can make beautiful scarves. I supply all the yarn and ribbons. I dye the yarns and I provide silks, rayons and natural blends. In 3-4 hours, you can leave with a scarf that is ready to wear and is gorgeous. This class is $60. If you use your own yarns, it is $45.
I sell the looms as well but also have a rental program for those who want to try another project. The cost is $15 to take one home for a week. This includes help threading the loom again and if you want to use my stash of yarns and ribbons, the materials cost is $15 for a scarf and will adjust for larger projects. You are also welcome to bring in your own yarns to use. So pick a nice weather week, take this loom out on your back porch and weave off some presents for your friends, family and yourself!
Dyeing Classes
I also welcome anyone interested in learning how to dye or wanting space to dye, to spend time with me at my Western Avenue studio. Price depends on what materials of mine you use. I have fleece and many yarns available. I use MX fiber reactive dyes and acid dyes and have a huge assortment of colors to play with.
I also have more bins of ribbons than to play with than a yarn store. Not surprising as I pick up yarns everywhere I go. So if you are interested in making a free-lace scarf, I give a class that supplies the use of all my stash and the Makuba paper. These scarves are light, lacy and gorgeous. It’s fun to watch how a group of people can lay out their scarves and each one is different and amazing. This takes about 2-3 hours to lay out the scarf depending on how intricate you decide to make it. Once the ribbons are sealed in the layers, you can take it home to sew, sew it there or I will sew it together for you for an additional charge. Once the scarf is sewn (which basically holds the ribbons in place) you wash the piece with warm water and the paper dissolves leaving just the ribbons and the sewing threads. This class is $40.
